Lenten Journey – Day 22
Ah, Spring is in the air! There is nothing better after a big blizzard then to watch it all melt away as quick as it came. Every time I step outside over the past few days I am overtaken by a powerful metaphor from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
When the Pevensie children first arrive in Narnia it is a cold and snowy winter. They soon learn that it has been winter for over 100 years (yuck!). As they get acquainted with the land of Narnia – its history and characters – they are introduced to the Main Character by Beaver with an exclamation: “Aslan is on the move!” The children haven’t heard of Aslan before, but they quickly learn that he is both the reason Narnia exists and the hope for its rescue from the White Witch.
As they journey, the signs of Aslan’s activity are all around them. The ice and snow are rapidly melting and for the first time in over 100 years, Spring has come and summer is on it’s way! Aslan is, indeed, on the move!
That imagery from the book/movie gives me hope as the snow and ice melt around me that God is on the move – in my life, in our church, community and world. God is always working… even if we don’t see Him.
This brings me back to a previous post about living in the presence of the Lord. After writing that post, I decided to pick up again a timeless classic The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence.
From the back cover:
Brother Lawrence was a man of humble beginnings who discovered the greatest secret of living in the Kingdom of God here on earth. It is the art of “practicing the presence of God in one single act that does not end.” He often stated that it is God who paints Himself in depths of our soul. We must merely open our hearts to receive Him and His loving presence.
Brother Lawrence is someone who learned that “Aslan is always on the move” – always working in us, through us and around us. And he lived each day in the knowledge and truth of God’s continual presence.
Today’s Prayer:
Father, thank you for moving in my heart, community and world.
Open my eyes to see where you are working
And give me the courage to join you
In your mission to save the world.

[...] Christ! To quote one of our members: “This prayer stuff really works!” Indeed, it does. Aslan is on the move! So keep praying! This prayer principle of evangelism is based on John 6:44 where Jesus says, [...]
